Members Area

Dear Members,

It’s not an easy time at the moment as we navigate our way through Covid 19. Of course we must all follow government and NHS guidance as it is issued on respective websites:

For those practitioners who frequently come into contact with members of the public, the UK Government have also produced extensive guidance for healthcare professionals.

Go to: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus.

In addition, this is the advice that the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council has issued outlining their position:

Disciplines involving hands-on therapies

In the light of recent Government guidance on social distancing the CNHC’s position is that you should suspend seeing your clients until further notice. It is a difficult decision to take given the impact it will have on livelihoods, but CNHC believe it is the right thing to do to assist in stemming the spread of coronavirus which can be transmitted by those who do not develop any symptoms. Safeguarding the health of your clients, your own health and that of your staff is paramount. We have a duty of care to do all we can to help end this world health crisis.”

We here at BAUK recommend that you telephone each client to offer support and to stay in touch. You may like to offer them the opportunity of a ‘remote’ or ‘virtual’ bowen session, via Skype, Facetime or similar (note: we would only suggest this route for clients with previous experience of Bowen and would recommend you check with your insurance company that you are covered to do so).

Support for small businesses and the self-employed

HMRC have set up a support helpline for businesses and self-employed people concerned about not being able to pay their tax due to coronavirus. More information can be found here.

Further information about support for businesses and employees can be found here and more information about having to claim benefits is here.

Mental health

We appreciate how much uncertainty and anxiety has resulted from this crisis. Everyone should take steps to support their mental health and that of their clients’. You can find very helpful advice on Mind’s website.

Keep Bowening yourself to help support your resilience to the situation.

Please don’t feel alone – we are all in this together. We are one big Bowen family and we are supporting each other through these difficult times. Don’t hesitate to email us here at the HQ – we are checking our emails 7/7 and will respond to you as quickly as we can. Stay in touch with us.

When you are out, remember to use your smile to bridge the distance and help support another person.

Kindest regards

Fiona Webb and all of the Team here at BAUK
