June 2006 AGM

AGM

June 4th was our AGM and seminar day.  The previous evening a small group of practitioners and trainers got together for a social meal- a good time was had by all.  The next day we held seminars in the morning and had useful and interesting talks from our Bowen Technique 2006 AGMthree speakers.

Stan Giles, who frequently works with cancer patients, spoke about his work and how he uses nutritional support and therapy. He gave us resource sites where we could find more information.

Seminar speakers from left: Helen Perkins, Stan Giles, Christine Parker and Ozzie and Elaine Rentsch.

Next we had one of our long sanding practitioners, Helen Perkins, give us information on Bowtech Ease and Bowen Balance Formula.  These wonderful products will help many of your clients and are personally endorsed by Ossie and Elaine who claim they have contributed to their great energy and resilience on their long tours.  Information and the products can be obtained from Helen.helenmaryperkins@hotmail.com Tel: 01733 55476

To complete our seminars we had Christine Parker who gave us an entertaining and useful talk on basic Feng Shui principles and how they affect our practises.  From stationery to practise rooms from answer phone messages to first meetings, if we get the tone right it will increase our business success. Christine runs courses and gives personal consultations. Tel: 01522 569845Tom Bowen Birthday Cake

A warm welcome was extended to Mr. Ossie Rentsch.  Everyone enjoyed hearing his Bowen hints and tips, which followed on perfectly from the previous speaker and we all appreciated both Ossie and Elaine’s input during various parts of the events.

A very special moment I believe was ‘the cutting of the cake’ to celebrate and remember Tom Bowen, our inspiration and founder on the occasion of his 90th year.  Surely he was there in spirit.

Special Comments

Please do consider joining us for the next AGM in June 2007.  We have been asked to hold the next one in Edinburgh.  We promise to try to avoid bank holidays and those members whose partners joined them this year certainly had a most enjoyable time.

We will continue to create an interesting seminar programme and we are already looking for speakers to book and inspiring ideas to give you all the opportunity to come together for a really super weekend.  All suggestions welcome.

Therapy Portals

As many people browse the Internet these days for information on different therapies, we have been in contact with several about their descriptions of Bowen and how it is represented.  Two of these are: www.holistic-community.co.uk , who have updated their Bowen section with input from us, and www.centralplexus.com , which is run by one of our practitioners.  On both these sites you can enter your details for free

New Design - new site for the BAuk

Ellen Cobb, Chairman for the BAuk Association, commissioned Zania Ballentine a UK Bowen Practitioner who runs her own site Maheono.com to re-design the layout and provide a NEW look and feel for the Bowen training website.

Zania a Bowen Practitioner, who runs a desktop publishing and webdesign business alongside her Bowen Therapy Practice in Hampshire said "I am very happy to put my skills to use for the association I belong to."

"It is important for an association like the BAuk to have the best web representation and presence as possible. The look, layout and functionality of a website shouldn't be the only important factors in consideration of a design. It is also important to make sure that usability, simple navigation and readability of the site are available too."

Zania has also designed the new website for the UK Bowen Trainers. You can visit their new site and find more information on up and coming Bowen Training courses in the UK and abroad by visiting www.bowentraining.co.uk

Dental Treatment for bed-wetting, ear infections and tension headaches

New research confirms a direct connection between chronic conditions such as bed-wetting and ear infections and the size and position of the jawbone. Children with small or poorly-positioned jaw and breathing airways tend to suffer from bed-wetting or ear infections explains Derek Mahony, DDS, MS.

Breakthrough dental procedures to widen the jaw and airway or re-align the jaw among children who suffer from either or both conditions, have been shown to reduce the occurrence or cure the problem completely.

Presented at the Academy of General Dentistry's 51st Annual Meeting, Nashville, July 17 20, 2003

N.B. As all good Bowen therapists know, there is an excellent procedure within The Bowen Technique which may help address problems such as the one described above. Members of the public who experience TMJ (Temporo Mandibular Joint) pain or dysfunction should seek out a registered therapist* and discuss the problem fully with the therapist before commencing treatment.
